- Differentiate between a mild to moderate allergic reaction and anaphylaxis.
- Review diagnosis of allergy and risk of anaphylaxis.
- Outline acute management for mild or moderate allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
ASCIA allergic rhinitis e-training for pharmacists
This course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise the clinical features of allergic rhinitis and possible co-existent conditions.
- Understand the uses and limitations of allergy testing.
- Identify pharmacotherapy options available and when to consider allergen immunotherapy.
- Know when to refer to a specialist.
ASCIA food allergy e-training for pharmacists
This course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
Learning outcomes:
- Differentiate between food allergy and other adverse reactions to foods, including food intolerances.
- Understand the role of medical practitioners and dietitians in the diagnosis and management of food allergy.
- Identify appropriate specialised formula choices for infants with food allergy.
CPD Points apply
ASCIA e-training for pharmacists can be self-recorded on an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan. The anaphylaxis e-training, allergic rhinitis e-training, and food allergy e-training courses all take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. This is equivalent to 1.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 1.5 CPD credits), which can be converted to 1.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 3 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities and e-training completion.
