Guidelines infant feeding and allergy prevention and how to introduce solid foodsASCIA guidelines for infant feeding and allergy prevention   

ASCIA Guidelines for infant feeding and allergy prevention and information on how to introduce solid foods to infants have been released on the ASCIA website www.allergy.org.au/patients/allergy-prevention

These documents combine the information from the previous ASCIA Infant Feeding Advice and ASCIA Guidelines for Allergy Prevention and include 3 revised recommendations, based on a consensus agreement by ASCIA and NHMRC at the recent CFAR Infant Feeding Guidelines Summit. National Allergy StrategyFederal Government funding for National Allergy Strategy implementation  

The federal government’s funding for implementation of the following 3 urgent National Allergy Strategy initiatives was announced at the launch of Food Allergy Week 2016 in Sydney on 16 May 2016, by the Minister for Health, the Hon Sussan Ley MP:

  • Standardising drug allergy management
  • Improving allergy management for teens and young adults, and
  • Allergy management in food service including in the hospital setting.

Reminder: ALLERGY AND IMMUNOLOGY FOUNDATION OF AUSTRALASIA (AIFA) RESEARCH GRANTS

Expressions of interest (EOI) for the next round of AIFA research grants (2016-2017) are due by 17th June 2016. To obtain an EOI form go to the AIFA website www.allergyimmunology.org.au/grants

The AIFA Grant Selection Panel, consisting of 8 highly regarded specialists in allergy and clinical immunology will recommend a shortlist of EOIs to be invited to submit a full grant application. To make a tax deductible donation to AIFA go to www.allergyimmunology.org.au/support-aifa
